Eminence participates in online ‘Health in the post 2015 development agenda’ consultation that took place between October 2012 and January 2013. Co-convened by WHO and UNICEF in collaboration with the Government of Botswana and the Government of Sweden, the consultation was intended to incorporate civic comments and opinions on health in the post-2015 development agenda.
The first draft of the report of the consultation on health in the post-2015 development agenda is now open for public comment. It is a technical report that summarizes the main themes and messages that have emerged thus far.
As the prior preparation of this post 2015 development agenda consultation Eminence undertook a number of national and international level consultations with the stakeholders since May 2012. Under ‘Citizens’ Forum for Sustainable Development’ on behalf of civil society networks from Bangladesh, Eminence pioneered the consultation with the campaign ‘Voice for Health’ through ‘Global Meet on Determinants of Sustainable Development’ in 2012 just prior to the Rio+20 conference.
In order to ensure the voice of grass root people, Citizens’ Forum for Sustainable Development’ has implemented National Congress on Sustainable Development and divisional workshops. Upon these consultations, Citizens’ Forum for Sustainable Development emphasizes keeping equity at the centre of all future health goals, good governance for good health and health financing to the draft Global Consultation Report.
The final consultation report will include an annex which will consist of digests of the papers and other inputs received from different stakeholders. However, digests of papers can be viewed online in the meantime.
A revised version of this report will be considered at the high level dialogue on health in the post-2015 agenda, and a final report will be presented to the high level panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda in March 2013. Beyond this, the report will also serve as an input into the discussions on post-2015 development agenda and the sustainable development goals that will take place during 2013 and 2014.
